My Eyebrows
When a person looks at my face basically they see my eyebrows first, then the rest of my face. I have very light skin (thanks dad for your Ashkenazi jewishness) and very dark hair (latina and proud) so my eyebrows are very prominent. I used to hate my eyebrows when I was younger because they just were free and unwaxed/plucked/trimmed and I looked sort of like a pale Frida Kahlo. When I was in fifth grade my mother finally let me get them waxed and that was the first day when I realized that my eyebrows were my best feature. I am all for loving yourself and not shaving and all of that but they were just too much for my face and I was always subconscious about them. Now I love my eyebrows and know how lucky I am to have them but they are expensive to care for and not caring for them just is not an option. I also do feel lucky because I know if I botch them up, they will always grow back. Always. Even when I don't want them to. I do not fill them in ever and I also do not wear makeup more than three times a year so I feel lucky that I have the confidence to do that. Beauty does not define you and you should not be forced to wear makeup if you do not want to. That is what I have learned throughout my life (albeit short life) and I hope other people can find their way to loving themselves naturally.

Stay beautiful

P.S. (my father made me straighten my hair for my Bat Mitzvah)
